March 2026Red Hot Science: Rock-Paper-Scissors... Circuits!
Presented by the Red Hot Science Program at Red Deer Polytechnic.
Ages 9-12.
We all know the game of rock-paper-scissors to determine who goes first in a game. Using the motion detector on a micro:bit processor board, the participants will learn how to use Microsoft's block code programming language to create a small game they can play with others. Registration required for all Red Hot Science Programs.
Program requires a minimum of 3 participants to run.

Bring the whole family for fun, creative and sometimes weird science-based activities geared to ages 5 and up and their parents. Children younger than 9 must have an adult remain in the program with them.
February 19 - Snow Science - experiments, activities and challenges featuring snow and ice.
March 19 - Disaster Science - Volcanoes, tornadoes and earthquakes, oh my!

Please register ONE TIME for your entire team!
Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle-Earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall.
Assemble your team of Tolkien fans to solve riddles, defeat challenges, and save Middle-Earth!
The program is geared to adults but teams can include children ages 12+ as long as there are adults as part of the team.
Start times will be staggered, and teams can begin the quest any time after 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

March 2026Red Hot Science: Wireless Door Opener
Presented by the Red Hot Science Program at Red Deer Polytechnic.
Ages 10+.
This workshop provides students with an introduction to the methodologies used for wirelessly controlling a motorized door, such as a garage door. It is structured to teach the following core concepts:
- Servo motor control: Understand the principles of motor operation.
- Wireless communication: Implement secure communication protocols with handshaking.
- Software functions: Develop and apply custom, software-defined functions.
- Variable management: Utilize various data types, including strings and numerical values.
This workshop is recommended for students with prior experience in block-level coding. Registration required at rdpl.org/events

On Friday, March 27 from 5-8pm drop in and have fun turning your fingerprints into a glass bead magnet critter!
Friday Family Fun Night happens on the third Friday of every month at the MAG. It’s a space for families and individuals to have fun and get creative in an inclusive space to learn art techniques at all skill levels.
This free program is for all ages and all materials are supplied.

Hop into spring with our delightful Easter event, where families can embark on an exciting adventure filled with fun and creative activities! Each family will receive a Bunny Pass, granting them access to a variety of engaging spring-themed stations that are perfect for all ages.
Meet some adorable rabbits, get crafty as you decorate colourful eggs, build your own flower bouquet, and join us for guided birding walks to discover the wonders of our local wildlife.
Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to celebrate Easter and the arrival of spring with your family—mark your calendars and join us for a hop-tastic day of fun!
This program takes place at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre.
All ages welcome.
Pre-registration price: $10/person. Drop-in price: $12/person.
