The talented dancers at Pound It Hip Hop studio are coming together to bring you a full night of entertainment ranging in Hip Hop styles back to the 70's. Rico Martinez (studio owner) is dedicated to training students and teaching the true foundation of hip hop: peace, love and unity. Rico has been bringing in the original creators and pioneers of hip hop from around the world to provide workshops and educate his students on its history and culture. He is an excellent teacher and a positive role model to all of his students. Teaching life skills, respect and acceptance, and creating a family culture that shows unwavering is what makes Rico and Pound It Hip Hop Studio so special. Pound It has many talented dancers who are gaining impressive success in provincial and national competitions- winning 1st place in battles, qualifying for the Olympics in Japan and having the only Canadian qualifier in a competition in New York, to name a few. By coming to the Evolution of Hip Hop Gala you are supporting our kids in our community and making these great opportunities possible for them. The kids are 5- 18 years old and are working really hard every week to put this special performance together for you to see how Hip Hop has evolved through the generations. This show is a musical theater format and will keep you entertained from start to finish. To take a further step and in turn give back to our local businesses, we are introducing the Dance Your Own Business dance battle where several local businesses will come together and dance off showcasing their hottest moves and compete for the championship title. We can promise one thing, it will be a night to remember! All funds go directly to the families of Pound It Hip Hop Dancers Association to support students who cannot afford classes, help to pay for professional dancers to train students at our studio and aid in paying for very exciting educational opportunities.
