Dog Days of Summer Youth Program

Do you have a teen between the ages of 13 & 15 looking for something to do this summer? Our Dog Days of Summer Youth Program may be an exciting opportunity for them. Presented by Canine Specialist Susan O’Brien and Clinical Therapist Jennifer Keough, MA, RSW. Every Thursday beginning July 4th and running until August 29th we have two different experiences to offer. From 1:00pm to 3:00pm teens can come and help teach our dogs some new tricks and from 3:00 pm-5:00pm teens can come with their own dogs and work with their companion. Don’t have a dog but want to stay for the whole afternoon? No problem! We have dogs that would love to work with you! The cost is $150 for the 1-3pm session or the 3-5pm session OR $275 for both sessions. The costs covers all 9 weeks! Space is limited and all proceeds will go to support the community based Animal Assisted Activities Canine Program through Animal Assisted Therapy Alberta- Buff Co. Family Connections – Skills for Supporting Loved Ones Struggling with Mental Illness

The Sashbear Foundation and Alberta Health Services are pleased to offer FAMILY CONNECTIONS™ a scientifically proven, skills-based program delivered over two full weekends in September and October. The program is based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is designed specifically for family members and friends of those struggling with emotional dysregulation (intense feelings of sadness, shame, anger, anxiety, impulsivity, mood swings and/or suicidal ideation). Delivered by trained peer facilitators who have “lived experience” using these skills in their own families, the program teaches practical coping and communication skills to help participants regain balance and manage emotional reactions to challenging situations more effectively. Sessions run 8:30am to 5:00pm on September 14th/15th and October 26th/27th 2019. Participants must attend all four days.
